The Telmos

The Telmos are a Beat Power Pop band hailing from Sheffield formed in 2017 by songwriter/producer/multi-instrumentalist Andy Pickering and Drummer Edward Evans. Both seasoned veterans in the music game. Notably Andy being ex of the Anglo Argentine indie/garage band The Draytones and Ed being ex of Sheffield indie rockers Pistola Kicks. This project is to bring the wealth of solo work Andy has written and recorded himself to the live stage and studio. His songwriting is heavily influenced by the melodic pop gurus of the 1960’s. One particular song caught the attention of Rock and Roll hall of famer John Sebastian (The Lovin’ Spoonful)….”Andy….Your sensibilities are unique! The tune is very good, and the track has a great quality. Go get’em!” (referencing the track What She Knows)

Andy has a great connection to Argentina from previously touring there numerous times with The Draytones and the name derives from a district in Buenos Aires called San Telmo. A local Argentine artist Marcelo Sainz hand painted the beautiful logo in the traditional style. The first year saw Andy and Ed recruit bass player Jim Keown, which enabled The Telmos to be a live band.  They performed in plenty of local shows around the city of Sheffield, released the debut E.P and filmed two promo video’s. 2017 also included a tour in France and in Argentina where The Telmos in San Telmo video was filmed on super 8.

2018 saw The Telmos complete a full four piece lineup with Marco Tommaseo on Guitar/Vocals and Will Harrison playing Bass, replacing Jim. This journey began with two shows at the International Pop Overthrow festival at the Cavern Club in Liverpool. After a number of successful local shows in Sheffield the band began work on the next EP, which was recorded at London’s famous vintage studio Toe Rag. Produced by Liam Watson (The White Stripes, The Zutons, Temples, Supergrass, Metronomy)
